"The Ladies of the Lake have been very instrumental in the success of the Halifax Regional Foundation. In 2001 they made their first donation to our Foundation, which supported the purchase of the Community's first digital mammography machine. During the last several years with the help of the Ladies of the Lake our Foundation has developed an very strong cancer care fund that has helped many people throughout our Community. We do not consider the Ladies  of the Lake donors, we consider them friends."
